Meet the Candidates:

Deborah Gonzalez – District Attorney, Georgia Western Judicial Circuit

Making History, Defending Justice: Deborah Gonzalez made history in 2020 as the first Latina and first woman elected as District Attorney for Georgia’s Western Judicial Circuit, which includes Athens-Clarke and Oconee Counties. She has worked to tackle violent crimes while finding alternative solutions for non-violent offenses, prioritizing restorative justice and at-risk youth programs.

Since taking office, Gonzalez and her team have dramatically reduced the court backlog caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, maintained high conviction rates, and expanded victim services. She has also built bridges with the diverse communities in her district, ensuring that justice serves all residents, regardless of background, and is ready to fight for key issues such as justice reform, public safety, and restorative Justice and youth Programs.

Mary Ann Santos – Georgia House of Representatives, District 117

Mary Ann Santos has fiercely advocated for the people of McDonough, Georgia. Her leadership has focused on ensuring that underserved communities have access to the necessary resources. A proud Latina leader, Santos has worked tirelessly to break down barriers and create opportunities for all, particularly in education, healthcare, and economic development.

Why These Endorsements Matter

Georgia is a battleground state where Latino voters are playing an increasingly crucial role in shaping its future. The Latino population in Georgia has surged by over 32% in the last decade, making up a vital voting bloc that could determine the outcome of key races across the state. In the 2020 elections, Georgia saw record Latino voter turnout, further proving the growing influence of this community.

These endorsements reflect the Latino Victory Fund’s mission to elevate Latino voices and ensure they are represented at every level of government. By supporting leaders like Deborah Gonzalez and Mary Ann Santos, the organization is investing in a more inclusive democracy—one that serves the needs of all Georgians.
