Washington, D.C. — In light of the news that Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost reportedly belonged to the secret Facebook group of thousands of current and former Border Patrol agents, where sick jokes about dead immigrants, disturbing sexist remarks and disgusting images were freely shared, Latino Victory Project is demanding her resignation as the head of Border Patrol.
Latino Victory Project Interim President Melissa Mark-Viverito issued the following statement:
“It is deeply troubling and concerning that the head of Border Patrol belonged to a disgusting secretive group, where agents so freely displayed a deep-seated hatred towards women and immigrants. Chief Carla Provost has lost all credibility and is no longer fit to oversee an organization that has had troubling accusations of human rights violations. She must resign immediately.”
