Latino and Civil Rights Leaders Commemorate Prop 187 in Arizona Press Conference
The Latino Victory Foundation, National Education Association, Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, National Education Association and the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda/Labor Council for Latin American Advancements as well as leading civil rights and labor organizations gathered in Phoenix, Arizona to commemorate the 20th anniversary of California’s anti-immigrant Prop 187. The measure prompted an unprecedented response from the Latino community–boosting its political power and raising its voice. At the gathering in Phoenix, Latino leaders discussed how the community can work together to combat anti-immigrant measures. Henry R.
