Washington, D.C.—Latino Victory Fund is proud to announce the endorsement of Catherine Cortez Masto, candidate for U.S. Senate in Nevada. Cortez Masto served two terms as Attorney General for Nevada and if elected, she will be the first Latina elected to the United States Senate.

Eva Longoria, Actress and Co-Founder of Latino Victory said, “It’s time we send the first woman from Nevada – and the very first Latina – to the Senate. I’m proud to endorse Catherine Cortez Masto because she’s tough, she’s fair, and she’s the right person for the job. Catherine has proven that she will fight for Nevadans, and I’m certain that in the Senate, she will fight not only for Latino families, but for all families throughout the country.”

“Catherine is a talented leader and dedicated public servant. Throughout her stellar career, she has fought for the middle class, worked to make Nevada’s communities safe and advocated for those who need a strong voice in government. That is the type of leader we need in the Senate,” said Cristóbal Alex, Latino Victory Fund President. He added, “Latino Victory is thrilled to support an experienced candidate who will step up for our community and who has signed on to the challenge of becoming the first Latina elected to the U.S. Senate. The Latino community is ready to witness yet another milestone that will help elevate us above the hateful anti-Latino rhetoric that has tarnished recent political campaigns. Catherine is the fierce leader who will blaze this trail for the next generations.”

Catherine Cortez Masto, candidate for U.S. Senate in Nevada, said, “As the granddaughter of a Mexican immigrant, I am honored to have the support of the Latino Victory Fund in my campaign for Senate. As Nevada’s Attorney General, I was a problem solver who worked with both parties to help Nevadans. I’ll do the same in the Senate and focus on expanding the middle class, raising the minimum wage, passing comprehensive immigration reform, and ensuring every Nevadan has access to a quality education. In contrast, my opponent, Republican Congressman Heck, votes with his Party 90% of the time and is part of the problem in Washington. Congressman Heck opposed comprehensive immigration reform, supports devastating cuts to education funding, and voted to tear families apart by defunding deferred action.  The choice for Latino voters in Nevada is clear: while I will always stand with them, Congressman Heck stands with his Party in Washington.”
