Eva Longoria, Henry R. Muñoz III and Julián Castro Reflect on Progress, Power and Potential for Latino Community

Washington, D.C. — Latino Victory Foundation co-founders Eva Longoria and Henry R. Muñoz III were joined by the Honorable Julián Castro, NBC UNIVERSO’s Yarel Ramos, climate scientist Nicole Hammer Hernandez, and Friends of the National Latino American Museum Executive Director Estuardo Rodriguez to discuss the growing influence of the Latino community in business, the arts, and civic engagement. The event also marked the first anniversary of the Latino Victory Foundation.

Latino Victory Foundation co-founder Henry R. Muñoz III said, “Toni Morrison affectionately referred to President Clinton as our nations’ first African American President, and many have called President Obama the first gay President. In 2016, I believe that we will elect the first Latino or Latina President. This must mean more than the color of their skin, the spelling of their last name, or whether they can deliver a stump speech in Spanish. It’s about being right on our issues and joining our movement. Today, we are gathering as a community for the first of many sustained conversations to chart our course forward and articulate our vision of the American Dream in the 21st century.”

“While the Latino population is quickly rising, we know that demographics are not destiny. That’s why the Latino Victory Foundation is committed to bringing together leaders and emerging leaders who can work together to ensure our country reflects us,” said Latino Victory Foundation President Cristóbal Alex.

“I am thrilled to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Latino Victory Foundation with a real and dynamic conversation about our community,” stated Yarel Ramos, On-Air Talent, NBC UNIVERSO. “It is a true honor to engage with Latino leaders and discuss the various issues of such importance to Latinos in the United States.”
