Washington, D.C. — As it gears up to celebrate its 5th Anniversary, Latino Victory Foundation announced the Latino Talks 2019 speaker lineup. This year’s event will feature Grammy Award-winning recording artist iLe, actress Justina Machado, the Hon. Verónica Escobar, the Hon. Nydia Velázquez, the Hon. Sylvia Garcia, DREAM Big Nevada executive director Astrid Silva, award-winning novelist Naima Coster, filmmaker Karla Cantú Luna and Politico national political reporter, Laura Barrón-López.

Latino Talks 2019 will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at The Hamilton Live in Washington, D.C. First held in May of 2015 to celebrate the organization’s anniversary and to offer a platform to uplift the Latino community’s change-makers and trailblazers, Latino Talks has become a go-to event for the ever-expanding Latino community of young professionals, politicos, activists, and business leaders.

Latino Talks is a celebration of the valuable cultural currency that Latinos contribute to this great nation,” said Melissa Mark-Viverito, Latino Victory Foundation interim president. “At a time when Latinos are being vilified, gatherings like Latino Talks are critical because they help us reaffirm our presence-this too is our home, and we are not going away. The Latino Victory Foundation is honored to announce our lineup of stellar Latinas who are transforming our nation’s cultural landscape through their work and voice, and ensuring that our community remains strong and visible.”

Latino Talks is a fireside-chat-style conversation in which the guest speakers share their life’s stories, their experiences as Latinos who have forged paths in their respective fields, and examine the ways they can continue empowering our community. Latino Talks is also a platform for our leading voices to connect and discuss building influence through a lively discussion on how Latinos are changing America—one voice, one vision, and one vote at a time.

In previous Latino Talks, Latino Victory welcomed guests such as Chef José Andrés, Grammy Award-winning Mexican rock band Maná, Emmy Award-winning journalist María Elena Salinas, Latinx advocate and communications strategist Paola Ramos, singer Amara la Negra, Astronaut José Hernández, and Secretary Julián Castro, among other of our community’s greatest influencers.
