Latino Victory Fund Announces Endorsement of New Slate of New York Candidates

Washington, D.C.—Latino Victory Fund, the most influential national organization working to strengthen Latino representation and help mobilize Latino voters ahead of the presidential election, announced today the endorsement of three candidates in New York. The candidates are Gabriella Romero, New York General Assembly District 109, Manny De Los Santos, New York General Assembly District 72, and Luis SepĂşlveda, New York State Senate, District 32. These three candidates join a robust slate, which Latino Victory hopes will continue to hold the line on Latino representation at all levels of government.

Statement from Sindy M. Benavides, Latino Victory Fund President & CEO on Gabriella Romero:

“Gabriella Romero is a fighter who supports policies that make a positive difference in underserved communities, which is why we need more leaders like her in the New York State Assembly. She’s fought for tenant rights, environmental conservation, youth empowerment, a fair criminal justice system, and improved community safety. Gabriella understands that living wages, affordable housing, and healthcare access are critical, in order for communities to truly prosper, and she will be a fierce advocate for these rights in the state assembly. Latino Victory Fund is proud to support Gabriella in her race to represent New York’s 109th District.”

Statement from Sindy M. Benavides, Latino Victory Fund President & CEO on Manny De Los Santos, New York General Assembly District 72:

“Manny De Los Santos is a tireless leader who has worked hard to strengthen his community in Northern Manhattan. He has focused his life and career on the greater good – first as a social worker advocating for students to overcome academic barriers to ensure their success, and later, as a staunch advocate for voter engagement and tenant and immigrant rights. Throughout his term as an assembly member, he’s worked to improve public education in the state and expand access to affordable housing, and affordable health care. He’s a leader who puts his community first, and a champion on Latino priority issues. Latino Victory Fund is thrilled to endorse Manny in his race to represent District 72.”

Statement from Sindy M. Benavides, Latino Victory Fund President & CEO on Luis SepĂşlveda, New York State Senate District 32:

“Luis SepĂşlveda is a champion of the working and middle class, two key demographics that comprise the backbone of our economy. He’s an ardent supporter of policies that improve economic opportunity, diversity and inclusion and social service reforms. As a trained attorney, he’s also a steadfast advocate for criminal justice reform and has tackled racial bias in the justice system, which are issues that disproportionately affect Latinos. Since he was elected, Senator SepĂşlveda has shown his commitment to bettering his community, and he’s led in the fight for more Latino representation in the justice system. Latino Victory is proud to endorse Senator SepĂşlveda and we look forward to seeing him re-elected to continue this important work on behalf of our communities.”
