Meet the Candidates

Laura Cadena: Continuing a Legacy of Advocacy and Action

With years of experience serving as Chief of Staff to District 6 Councilmember Omar Narvaez, Laura Cadena has played an instrumental role in delivering meaningful progress across one of Dallas’ most dynamic and diverse districts. A public relations professional with deep roots in District 6, Cadena brings both professional expertise and personal commitment to her candidacy. Councilmember Narvaez has endorsed Cadena as his successor, underscoring her readiness to lead and continue the district’s legacy of progressive, community-centered policy.

“Laura Cadena understands what it takes to get things done for the people of District 6. Her knowledge of the issues, hands-on experience, and unwavering dedication to her neighbors will make her an extraordinary representative for her community. Latino Victory Fund is thrilled to support her candidacy for Dallas City Council,” said Pichardo-Erskine.

Cadena’s platform prioritizes affordable housing, improved infrastructure, and public safety investments. She is committed to putting residents first and ensuring that the district’s neighborhoods—including Ledbetter, La Loma, and Bachman Lake—have the resources they need to thrive.

“I’ve served this community behind the scenes for years, and now I’m ready to step up and lead,” said Cadena. “District 6 deserves a leader who will listen, act, and deliver for every family and every neighborhood. I’m running to continue building a district where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.”

Adam Bazaldua: Proven Leadership, Progressive Results

Elected in 2019 as the youngest person to ever serve on the Dallas City Council, Adam Bazaldua has built a record of public service, advocacy, and results. A former chef and educator, Bazaldua has remained grounded in community service throughout his career—championing public safety, economic revitalization, and support for Dallas’ most vulnerable residents.

“As Deputy Mayor Pro Tem, Adam Bazaldua has consistently delivered for District 7. He is a bold, thoughtful leader who brings passion, vision, and real results to the table,” said Pichardo-Erskine. “His commitment to safer neighborhoods, smarter growth, and equitable development makes him an invaluable leader for Dallas. Latino Victory Fund is committed to supporting his reelection.”

District 7, which includes vibrant areas such as Fair Park, South Dallas, and parts of East Dallas, is home to a majority Black and Latino population. Bazaldua’s leadership has been instrumental in pushing forward initiatives that reflect and respect the district’s cultural richness and needs, including crime prevention, small business support, and long-term homelessness solutions.

“Dallas is my home, and I’ve dedicated my life to making it better for every resident,” said Bazaldua. “This final term is about finishing what we started—safer streets, stronger neighborhoods, and a local government that works for the people. I’m proud to have the support of Latino Victory as we continue this fight.”
