This is the largest slate of federal candidates Latino Victory Fund has endorsed to date, with more than half of the endorsees being Latinas.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Latino Victory Fund announced its first round of congressional endorsements for the 2020 election cycle. Totaling 11 candidates, this is the largest slate of congressional candidates Latino Victory has ever endorsed. Women make up more than 50 percent of the slate, many of whom could make history by becoming the first Latina to represent their respective districts.
Latino Victory Fund’s newly-endorsed candidates:
- U.S. Senate, New Mexico: Rep. Ben Ray Luján
- U.S. Senate, Texas: Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez
- Tzintzún Ramirez could become the first Latina from Texas elected to the U.S. Senate
- CA-22: Phil Arballo
- Arballo could become the first Latino to represent California’s 22nd Congressional District
- CA-53: Georgette Gómez
- Gómez could become the first openly LGBTQ Latino/a elected to Congress and the first Latina to represent California’s 53rd Congressional District
- FL-18: Oz Vazquez
- IN-01: Mara Candelaria Reardon
- Candelaria Reardon the first Latino/a from Indiana elected to Congress
- IN-05: Christina Hale
- Hale could become the first Latino/a from Indiana elected to Congress
- KS-02: Michelle De La Isla
- De La Isla could become the first Latino/a from Kansas elected to Congress
- NM-03: Teresa Leger Fernandez
- Leger Fernandez could become the first Hispanic woman to represent New Mexico’s 3rd Congressional District
- NY-15: Melissa Mark-Viverito
- Mark-Viverito could become the first Latina to represent New York’s 15th Congressional District
- TX-24: Candace Valenzuela
- Valenzuela could become the first Latino/a to represent Texas’ 24th Congressional District
With the 5 members of Congress who were endorsed last year through the “Our Champions” program, Latino Victory Fund’s federal slate of candidates now totals 16.

Latino Victory Fund Chair Luis A. Miranda, Jr. issued the following statement:

The fact that Latino Victory is endorsing its largest slate of candidates to date is a testament to the progress we’ve made during our five years of existence. This is truly how we build real and substantial Latino political power at all levels of government.”
Latino Victory Fund Executive Director Mayra Macías issued the following statement:
