Washington, D.C. –President Biden issued an executive order that would grant Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to approximately 200,000 Venezuelans. Latino Victory Fund President & CEO Nathalie Rayes issued the following statement:
“President Biden’s TPS executive order is a victory for Venezuelans and a welcomed return to immigration policies centered on compassion and humanity. As a Venezuelan immigrant, my heart goes out to the Venezuelan families who are forced to flee their country’s brutal regime that has sowed poverty and violence and ruptured its social fabric. We’re breathing a sigh of relief after years of uncertainty and fear. Venezuelans will now have the opportunity to continue their lives in peace and knowing that they’ll be fully able to contribute and thrive in their communities. President Biden kept his promise made to the Venezuelan community, and we commend him for his leadership and resolve to make our country a welcoming place for immigrants.”
