As the presidential race concluded with Donald Trump’s return to office, the Latino Victory Fund reaffirms its dedication to defending and empowering Latino communities nationwide. While this result presents significant challenges, it also strengthens the fund’s resolve to advocate for policies that protect and uplift the Latino community and ensure the voices of Latino voters continue to resonate in every corner of the country.
“This election has shown the resilience and resolve of our Latino community. Our endorsed candidates, from Darren Soto in Florida to Luz Rivas in California, have shown that our community’s values—equality, opportunity, and justice—are crucial to the future of our nation,” said Sindy Benavides, CEO and President of Latino Victory Fund. “As the first Latina elected to Congress from New Jersey, Nellie Pou embodies the historic milestones we strive to achieve. We are immensely proud of every candidate and every Latino and Latina voter who stood up for progress and unity. Latino Victory Fund will continue to stand by our community, advocating tirelessly for the America we envision together.”
Luis Miranda Jr., Chairman of Latino Victory Fund, added, “Even though the Republican Party was able to win the presidency and the majority in the U.S. Senate, we are proud and joyful that many of our Latino Victory endorsed candidates won significant races at the local level. In total, over 45 Latino Victory endorsed candidates succeeded in their first time election or re-election, with additional races still to be called. Every win, from Emily Randall in Washington State and Gabe Vazquez in New Mexico, to Chuy Garcia in Illinois and Gabby Salinas in Tennessee, among many others, is a step toward building an America that respects our contributions and empowers us to shape its future.
The national numbers do show so far that a high percentage of Latino voters did vote for Donald Trump, which represents a seismic political shift in the Latino community, because we understand that Trump doesn’t represent our needs, aspirations and interests. Despite Trump’s return, we will not retreat. Latino Victory will continue to push forward, holding this administration accountable and supporting leaders who will fight for our rights and values. We are just getting started.”
“Latino Victory Fund remains committed to building Latino political power and representation across the United States. In the face of political headwinds, we will continue to mobilize, advocate, and empower Latino communities to ensure that our voices are heard, our rights are protected, and our contributions are valued at every level of government,” added Sindy Benavides, CEO and President of Latino Victory Fund.
