Latino Victory Fund Condemns Trump’s January 6th Pardons and Policies

A Direct Assault on Democracy

Donald Trump has once again taken the oath of office as President of the United States. For many of us, this moment solidifies our resolve to fight for the future of our nation and the values we hold dear. His inaugural speech reaffirmed a vision of an America that prioritizes exclusion over inclusion and caters to the wealthy at the expense of working families. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to stand up for the rights and aspirations of the Latino community.

The administration’s immediate actions highlight its agenda: executive orders aimed at eliminating birthright citizenship and ramping up immigration enforcement signal a direct attack on immigrant families and fundamental rights. These decisions, paired with economic policies designed to benefit billionaires while leaving working families behind, present a clear challenge to equity and justice.

We condemn President Trump’s blanket pardons of the criminals who attacked the heart of our democracy on January 6th. Excusing this assault undermines the rule of law and weakens the very foundation of our nation. This sweeping clemency, coupled with the dismissal of ongoing cases, sets a dangerous precedent that threatens the foundations of our democracy.

At the same time, we must recognize the historic confirmation of Marco Rubio as Secretary of State. As the first Latino to hold this position, his appointment represents a significant milestone for our community. We expect Secretary Rubio to serve as a leader who champions policies that reflect the interests and values of all Americans, particularly those of the Latino community he represents at the global stage. We will monitor his actions closely and hold him accountable to the people who look to him for representation.

Latino Victory Fund will remain steadfast in resisting policies that harm our communities. Whether it’s attacks on public education, rollbacks of climate progress, or economic strategies that prioritize the wealthiest over working families, we will push back with strength and determination. This administration will be held accountable for every decision that undermines the progress we have fought to achieve.

This is a moment of reckoning for our country. Latinos are not just contributors to America’s economy, with $2.8 trillion in annual contributions, we are also essential workers, entrepreneurs, and leaders driving innovation and growth. As the fastest-growing demographic, we are ready to unite, rally our community, and fight for a future that reflects justice, opportunity, and equality for all.

Latinos are not merely part of America’s story; we are driving its future.
