Washington, D.C. – Latino Victory Fund congratulates its New Mexico endorsed candidates for winning their respective races in the November 2020 election. Nathalie Rayes, Latino Victory Fund president & CEO issued the following statements on key races in the state:
Assistant Speaker of the House Ben Ray Luján, U.S. Senate
“With Assistant Speaker Luján’s victory, the Latino community will have increased representation in the United States Senate, a critical milestone for the second-largest electorate and the largest ethnic minority in the country. Luján is one of the most prolific and effective political leaders in our country. During his tenure as the first Latino chairman of the DCCC, he led the House Democrats to victory in the 2018 midterms. He’s also a formidable legislative leader and representative for his New Mexico constituents, and in the Senate, he will continue fighting for access to health care, to protect New Mexico’s public lands, and for the welfare and education of our children. Latino Victory congratulates Luján for his milestone victory.”
Teresa Leger Fernandez, NM-03
“Teresa has been fighting for New Mexico’s underserved communities throughout her entire career — from advocating for civil rights to expanding affordable housing and community development. Now, she’s headed to Congress to continue her advocacy for social and economic justice in one of the most impactful legislative bodies in the country. In Congress, she’ll fight for access to quality health care, voting rights, critically important in these times, and environment and cultural preservation for New Mexico. Latino Victory congratulates Teresa for her historic victory.”
