Washington, D.C. – Latino Victory Fund congratulates Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris for winning the 2020 presidential election. In February 2020, Latino Victory became the first national Latino organization to endorse Vice President Biden for president. Latino Victory is also proud to congratulate Senator Kamala Harris for making history as the first woman, first Black American and AAPI person, and daughter of immigrants elected as vice president of the United States.
Since the beginning of the 2020 election cycle, Latino Victory has asserted that the path to the White House runs through the Latino community. In the aftermath of the election, record Latino voter turnout proved that the Latino community was critical in determining the outcome of the presidential election.
Latino Victory Fund’s leadership issued the following statements:
“I always had faith that the people of the United States, of which the Latino community is the largest minority voting bloc, would reject four years of Trump’s failed administration and elect the leader we need in these unprecedented times: Joe Biden. Now we must begin the difficult task to heal and reunify the nation, speak to those who did not vote for us, enact a plan based on science and structure to end the COVID-19 pandemic, restore the economy, and create safe and strong communities for everyone,” said Luis A. Miranda Jr., Chairperson of Latino Victory Fund.
“American voters showed up to the polls in unprecedented numbers to save our democracy. We can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Vice President Biden will govern with competence and accountability to the American people. The Biden-Harris administration will safeguard the hard-fought rights and laws that afforded protections for millions of Americans, including access to healthcare, LGBTQ rights, women’s reproductive rights, and protections for Dreamers,” said Nathalie Rayes, President & CEO of Latino Victory Fund. “Vice President Biden’s plan unifies Americans of all backgrounds with the common goal of making our country thrive again. We’re ready for an administration that will get to work to stop the Covid-19 pandemic, jumpstart the economy, create jobs, expand educational opportunities, combat climate change and address the systemic racism plaguing our nation.
“Under the Biden-Harris Administration, Latinos will have a seat at the table and our community will be treated with the respect that mirrors our contributions to this country. Latino Victory congratulates Vice President Biden and Senator Harris for winning the most consequential election of our lifetime. Our country is ready to move forward under their leadership.”
Vice President Biden has helped Latino Victory Fund increase Latino representation in government by supporting the organization’s candidates during various election cycles. The organization has expressed optimism at Vice President Biden’s commitment to ensuring that his administration reflects our country’s diversity and includes Latino representation in cabinet-level and senior leadership positions.
Latino Victory Fund ran a $7 million electoral program focused on mobilizing the Latino vote for Vice President Joe Biden and kicked off Latinos con Biden, a bilingual virtual network for Latino supporters to defeat Donald Trump by building and rallying support for the Biden-Harris ticket. Latinos con Biden aimed to convene Latino leaders, grassroots supporters, influencers, organizers, activists, first-time voters, and all Latinos who share the common goal of winning the 2020 presidential election.
