Latino Victory Fund Endorses Debbie Mucarsel-Powell for United States Senate

Mucarsel-Powell would be the first Latina elected to represent Florida in the U.S. Senate

Washington, D.C.—Latino Victory Fund announced the endorsement of Debbie Mucarsel-Powell for U.S. Senate. If elected, Mucarsel-Powell would make history by becoming the first Latina elected to represent Florida in the U.S. Senate.

Mucarsel-Powell’s endorsement is part of Latino Victory Fund’s “First Latinas” program, which aims to increase the number of Latinas elected to public office and support Latinas who would be the ‘first’ elected to their respective seats. The organization aims to continue working to mobilize Florida’s Latino voters to turn out for Democrats and help build the Democratic Latino bench in the state with key victories.

Statement from Sindy M. Benavides, Latino Victory Fund President & CEO:

“Debbie’s a force to be reckoned with in Florida politics, and a force for good who will fight for the Latino community and for all Floridians. She’s a dedicated, hard-working leader who doesn’t back away from a challenge, and she has a vision for a Florida that’s prosperous and inclusive. Debbie’s ready to fend off the GOP’s vicious attacks against civil rights, women’s reproductive freedom, and the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. Floridians deserve a senator like Debbie, who will build more opportunities, work to strengthen the economy and create more jobs, advocate for sensible gun reform to keep communities safe and keep taxes down while protecting Social Security and Medicare.

“This race presents a valuable opportunity to energize Latino voters to turn out to vote for Democrats up and down the ballot. Latinos in Florida are still powerful Democratic allies and having a Latina Democrat at the top of the ticket, like Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, who fights for issues that matter to her community, will motivate Latino voters to turn out and help swing the state blue. Latino Victory Fund is proud to back Debbie in her bid to make history as the first Latina elected to the U.S. Senate from Florida.”
