Why This Election Matters
Manassas City Schools serves a diverse student population of approximately 7,413, with ~70% identifying as Hispanic/Latino. Over half of the students are eligible for federal free or reduced-price meals, and ~52% are English language learners, so the stakes in this election could not be higher. The Manassas City School Board election on November 5th, 2024, will fill four seats with eight candidates in the running. With Diana Brown’s proven record of leadership, she is poised to be a vital advocate for students, families, and educators alike. She will focus on key issues such as reducing absenteeism by ensuring students are present and engaged, strengthening parent engagement to support student achievement, and improving reading and math outcomes to equip students with critical skills for lifelong success.
