WASHINGTON – Today, Latino Victory Fund, the national political action committee dedicated to building Latino political power, announced the endorsement of Raquel Terán for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District. If elected, she would be the first Latina to represent Arizona in Congress.
Latino Victory Fund Executive Director Sindy Benavides released the following statement:
“Raquel Terán is an accomplished organizer with deep roots in the fight against SB 1070, also known as the egregious “show me your papers” law in Arizona. Raquel’s courage to defend the rights of Arizonans led to her election to the state legislature in 2018. She has been a staunch advocate for healthcare access, reproductive rights, and economic opportunities. Raquel has demonstrated incredible skill in the state legislature, proving her effectiveness when she helped pass an increase in minimum wages and guaranteed paid sick leave to Arizona’s workers.
“In Congress, Raquel will stand up for the people of Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District and utilize her experience as an organizer and as a legislator to solve the biggest problems facing our democracy. She’ll stand up against far-right extremists who want to restrict our reproductive rights, limit our power at the ballot, and stonewall comprehensive immigration reform. Latino Victory Fund is honored to stand with Raquel Terán to be Arizona’s champion in the United States Congress.”
