WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Latino Victory Fund endorsed Councilwoman Regina Romero for mayor of Tucson. If elected, Romero would become the first Latina elected to this position.
Latino Victory Fund Interim President Melissa Mark-Viverito issued the following statement on Councilwoman Regina Romero’s endorsement:
“For over a decade, Councilwoman Romero has worked diligently to uplift Tucson to the prosperous city it is today. As a council member, she wrote Tucson’s Primary Jobs Incentive program that helped generate thousands of jobs, fought for equal pay for equal work, and for universal earned sick and parental leave for Tucson families. Councilwoman Romero broke one glass ceiling when she became the first Latina to represent Ward 1 in the City Council, and Latino Victory is proud to endorse her to ensure she breaks her second one by becoming the first Latina mayor of Tucson.”
