Latino Victory Fund Endorses Regina Romero for Mayor of Tucson

WASHINGTON – Today, Latino Victory Fund announced the endorsement of Regina Romero for reelection to mayor of Tucson, Arizona.

Latino Victory Fund Executive Director Sindy Benavides released the following statement:

“We are excited to endorse Mayor Regina Romero for her reelection campaign. Mayor Romero is Tucson’s first Latina mayor and the only Latina to serve in the top 50 cities in the U.S. She is no stranger to breaking barriers. She was the first Latina to represent Tuscon’s Ward 1 on Tucson’s City Council. Growing up the child of immigrant farmworkers, Romero was the first to graduate college and cast a ballot to vote.

Before public service, she was the Latino outreach director for the Center for Biological Diversity. Mayor Romero understands the strength in Tucson’s diversity – whose Latino population tops 38 percent. Now, as a committed public servant, she’s determined to continue fighting for the people of Tucson. Throughout her tenure, the COVID-19 pandemic ravaged Tucson and our nation, yet, Mayor Romero never backed down. Instead, her tireless work has created a more equitable, sustainable city of Tucson. We know she will continue to deliver creative solutions for her city. Her proven leadership and background is why we are excited to stand by Regina Romero for her reelection as mayor.”
