Washington, D.C. – Cristóbal J. Alex, President of Latino Victory Fund, issued the following statement following reports that for the first time since Ronald Reagan, the President’s Cabinet won’t include a Latino.
“As suspected, Donald Trump will not include a single Latino voice in his cabinet. Trump began his presidential campaign attacking the Latino community, so this is really just a culmination of the hostility that he has shown us since day one. It is a lamentable setback for Latino representation in government, but it’s not a total defeat. We will keep fighting to ensure Latino representation continues growing at all levels of government by training and developing future Latino progressive leaders. We consider it our mandate to defend the policies that Latinos support and need — and to work closely with the leaders who have shown our communities the respect we deserve.”
