Washington, D.C. — As Puerto Rico braces for Hurricane Dorian, President Trump is, once again, abandoning Puerto Ricans at a time of need and is lying about the funding the island received for recovery efforts after Hurricane María. Latino Victory Fund executive director, Mayra Macias, issued the following statement:
“President Trump’s tweet is callous and irresponsible, and it’s indicative of his incompetence as Commander-in-Chief. As millions of Puerto Ricans brace for another hurricane, rather than offer aid and comfort, Trump continues to spread lies to cover up his disastrous handling of the Hurricane Maria recovery. It’s clear that Trump does not have the best interests of Puerto Ricans at heart.”
