Washington, D.C. – Latino Victory Fund congratulated Senator Alex Padilla, D-California, for winning his first full-term to represent California in the United States Senate.
Padilla was first appointed to the California Senate seat vacated by Vice President Kamala Harris in 2020, becoming the first Latino to represent California in the U.S. Senate.
Statement from Nathalie Rayes, president and CEO of Latino Victory Fund:
“In his first two years in the Senate, Alex Padilla has become a leading voice on issues shaping our country and impacting the Latino community. In this crucial moment, our nation needs strong leaders in the Senate like Padilla, who will keep our country on the right path and defend our civil rights. He’s an unwavering supporter of worker’s rights, affordable healthcare, reproductive rights, and voter rights, and policies that strengthen the economy, especially for underrepresented communities. We’ve believed in Senator Padilla’s leadership long before we launched the Pick Padilla campaign to mobilize support for his appointment to the U.S. Senate. We’re proud to congratulate Senator Padilla for being elected to represent California in the U.S. Senate, and we look forward to seeing him transform our nation’s political landscape.”
Latino Victory has long supported Senator Alex Padilla since it endorsed him for California Secretary of State in 2014, the year the organization launched. In August 2020, Latino Victory launched the ‘Pick Padilla’ initiative, a digital ad campaign, to harness support for Senator Padilla’s appointment to the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Vice President Harris.
