Latino Victory Fund Re-endorses Virginia Delegate Alfonso Lopez, and Endorses Phil Hernandez for the Virginia House of Delegates and Erika Yalowitz for Fairfax County Board of Supervisors

With its five total endorsements of this cycle, this is the largest slate of candidates the Latino Victory Fund has ever endorsed in Virginia.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Latino Victory Fund announced three new endorsements in Virginia: Alfonso Lopez for House of Delegates District 49, Phil Hernandez for House of Delegates District 100 and Erika Yalowitz for Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

Latino Victory Fund Interim President Melissa Mark-Viverito issued the following statement on Alfonso Lopez’ re-endorsement:

“Alfonso Lopez has paved a path as the first Latino Democrat to get elected to the Virginia House of Delegates and we are proud to re-endorse him. From fighting to protect our environment, to establishing a Latino Caucus in the House of Delegates, to expanding in-state tuition for DACA students in Virginia, Alfonso Lopez has been a proven champion for our community and all Virginians.”

Mark-Viverito added the following on Phil Hernandez’ endorsement:

“Throughout his entire career, Phil Hernandez has fought for the rights of hardworking people around the country through his nonprofit work. That is exactly the type of leadership Virginians deserve in Richmond. Virginia Democrats can flip District 100 from red to blue and help take back the House of Delegates this November with a candidate like Phil Hernandez. He is the best candidate to galvanize a diverse coalition of voters to defeat the Republican incumbent.”

Mark-Viverito concluded the latest round of endorsements in Virginia by saying the following on Erika Yalowitz:

“Erika Yalowitz’s firsthand experiences through her work on environmental issues, youth and homelessness, and survivors of sexual and domestic abuse makes her the most qualified candidate in the race for the Board of Supervisors. We are extremely proud to endorse Erika because this first-time candidate knows how to tackle the most pressing issues affecting Fairfax County.  There has never been a Latina elected to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, and we are ready to help make history by electing Erika Yalowitz .”

This past April, Latino Victory Fund re-endorsed Virginia Delegates Hala Ayala and Elizabeth Guzman. With this new wave of endorsements, this is the largest slate of candidates the Latino Victory Fund has ever endorsed in Virginia.
