Latino Victory Fund Re-Endorses Virginia Delegates Hala Ayala and Elizabeth Guzman

Latino Victory first endorsed Delegates Ayala and Guzman in 2017, and they became the first Latinas elected to the Virginia House of Delegates.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Latino Victory Fund endorsed Delegate Hala Ayala, District 51, and Delegate Elizabeth Guzman, District 31, on their re-election bid for the Virginia House of Delegates.

Latino Victory Fund Melissa Mark-Viverito issued the following statement on Delegate Hala Ayala’s endorsement:

“Delegate Ayala is a proven leader who has worked arduously for Virginia’s families. As the daughter of immigrants and a long-time resident of Prince William County, Delegate Ayala is a candidate who reflects the rich diversity of our nation. She has fought for a minimum wage increase and access to affordable health care throughout her career, and as a delegate, delivered a significant victory by helping pass Medicaid expansion. Latino Victory Fund is proud to endorse Delegate Ayala, and will continue to ensure that our state governments reflect our nation’s diversity and values.”

Latino Victory Fund Interim President Melissa Mark-Viverito issued the following statement on Delegate Elizabeth Guzman’s endorsement:

“Delegate Guzman ran for office after she realized the impact that the current anti-immigrant climate would have on her family, and she has since become a formidable voice in the House of Delegates and on the national stage. Delegate Guzman made history as the first Latina immigrant elected to the House of Delegates and the first AFSCME member elected to the chamber. Since then, she has fought to ensure Virginia’s families have access to affordable health care, pushed to improve social services and to expand mental health access and worked to ensure Virginians enjoy a thriving economy. State legislatures must represent their communities’ diversity, and we can only accomplish this by endorsing more powerhouse Latinas like Delegate Guzman to these seats.”
