WASHINGTON—Today, Latino Victory Fund expressed support for our immigrant and refugee communities ahead of the #HereToStay national day of action on Jan. 14, 2017. On that day supporters all over the country can make a public commitment to defend and protect immigrant communities and remind the incoming administration that we are #HereToStay. Among many nationwide events, a march will be held in Washington D.C. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, organized by CASA, Center for Community Change/Fair Immigration Reform Movement, Make the Road, the New York Immigration Coalition, United We Dream and SEIU.
Cristóbal J. Alex, Latino Victory Fund president, issued the following statement in support of #HereToStay national day of action:
“Latino Victory Fund is proud to stand with our immigrant and refugee brothers and sisters this January 14th at the #HereToStay actions across the country and remind Trump that we are a powerful community with a strong voice.
“We will not remain silent as he attacks us, deports our loved ones, and separates our families. Immigrants are #HereToStay, and we will stand together against hateful policies. We will hold accountable any and all politicians who support the Trump administration’s efforts to harm Latinos, refugees, the immigrant community, the Muslim community, the LGBTQ community, African-Americans and women. We are ready to fight.”
