Latino Victory Fund Statement on First Presidential Debate

Washington, D.C. – Latino Victory Fund President & CEO Nathalie Rayes issued the following statement after the first presidential debate between President Donald Trump and Vice President Joe Biden:

“Vice President Biden reminded us tonight that he’s a principled, prepared leader with the steely resolve required to lead this nation. Trump reminded us that he’s a racist con man who has no plan to help the American people. Tonight’s debate was clearly between two polar opposites–Biden, an agent of unity who will work for all Americans, and Trump, an agent of chaos who will live off all Americans.

“Biden’s extensive record proves that he’ll be ready to lead on day one. He’ll ensure a prosperous economy that works for all, continued and improved access to health care and higher education, and bold proposals to combat climate change and protect our environment. Vice President Biden demonstrated that he’s the leader who can return stability, capacity, and effective governance to the White House.”

In February, Latino Victory Fund became the first national Latino organization to endorse Vice President Biden.

The Latino Victory Fund is a progressive political organization working to grow Latino political power by increasing Latino representation at every level of government. From school boards to the U.S. Senate, to the White House, Latino Victory identifies, recruits, and develops candidates for public office while building a permanent base of Latino donors to support them. For President /Vice President of the United States, the Latino Victory Fund endorses non-Latino candidates who have demonstrated an especially broad base of support among the Latino community. The reason behind this exception is because of the visibility of these offices and the importance of maximizing Latino political power nationwide.
