Latino Victory Fund Statement on House Passing the American Rescue Plan

Washington, D.C. – Today, the House passed the American Rescue Plan, the Covid-19 relief bill that will provide relief to millions of Americans who have been impacted by the pandemic. The bill had been previously approved by the Senate, and it will now go to President Joe Biden for his signature. Latino Victory Fund President & CEO Nathalie Rayes issued the following statement:

“The American Rescue Plan will transform our country’s economic stability for millions of Americans and improve the lives of families that struggle to make ends meet. As the wealthiest country in the world, we should not have to debate providing aid to our people, especially when our children are starving and when small businesses are shuttering or barely staying afloat. The plan will also provide much-needed relief to Latinos, especially Latinas and immigrants, who have been disproportionately impacted by the health and economic hardships resulting from the pandemic. At a time when the vaccine rollout is a key priority, the plan will boost vaccination efforts that will expand access to communities with low vaccination rates, especially Latinos.

“Americans across the country and party lines support Congress’ relief efforts, and it’s a decisive victory for the American people and the Biden administration as it continues to steer the country out of the worst health and economic disaster in modern history.”
