Latino Victory Fund Statement on President Trump Leveraging Extreme Anti-Immigrant Rhetoric to Fundraise in San Antonio and Houston

Washington, D.C. — Today, President Trump will travel to San Antonio and Houston, Texas, where — in the midst of the ongoing child separation crisis created by his Administration — he is raising money for his re-election campaign from donors who support his extreme anti-immigrant rhetoric and his push for harsher immigration policies. Commenting on Trump’s visit to Texas, Latino Victory Fund National Press Secretary María R. González issued the following statement:

“Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric is un-American and out of touch with the majority of Texans.  The President is clearly clueless about Texas, but we are a multicultural state that was forged out of many different countries, and his vile attempt to demonize immigrants highlights his ignorance of Texan values. In the 2018 midterm election, a majority of voters rejected the Republican party’s anti-immigrant vitriol, and make no mistake, Texans will reject Trump’s racist, xenophobic agenda in 2020. That’s why Texas Republicans are already running scared in the state’s most competitive congressional districts.”
