Latino Victory Fund Statement on President Trump’s Address to Congress

Washington, D.C—Latino Victory Fund President & CEO Katharine Pichardo issued the following statement following the president’s address to Congress:

“Last night’s speech was a tale of promises made and promises broken. President Trump was elected on an economic message – promising to ‘lower costs on day one.’ Instead, he has thrown the country into a tailspin with reckless policies that are hurting millions of working Americans. Thanks to Trump and his enablers in Congress, prices are going up on everything from clothes, to food, gas, cars, housing, higher education, medicine – everything. Medicaid is on the chopping block, all so they can give over a trillion dollars in tax cuts to their billionaire friends. And all the while, immigrants are living in fear and our democracy is in peril.

“The bottom line: this is not what the American people voted for, and no amount of gaslighting by Trump can undo the damage. We are not buying what they are selling, and we will not stand idle. Latino Victory is ready to push back on these disastrous policies which impact working families, including Latinos, because the America we know is an America that works for all, not just the privileged few.
