Washington, D.C. — Following Texas State Senator José Rodríguez’ announcement that he wouldn’t seek re-election to the Texas Senate, Latino Victory Fund Executive Director Mayra Macías issued the following statement:
“Latino Victory Fund extends its gratitude to Senator José Rodríguez for his years of service, his leadership and for his unwavering commitment to the Latino community. With Latinos under constant attack by Republicans in Austin and Washington, now more than ever, El Pasoans deserve a champion who will fight like hell for them.”
Macías added: “In a district that is more than 80 percent Latino, it’s incumbent that the next senator reflect the rich diversity of Texas’ 29th State Senate District. Make no mistake: Latino Victory is ready to recruit and support a strong, viable Latino candidate who will continue fighting for our community and our values.”
