Washington, D.C.—Latino Victory Fund President & CEO Katharine Pichardo issued the following statement on the Trump administration halting federal grants and loans, which will affect essential federal and state programs and organizations providing direct services to millions of Americans:
“It takes a special level of cruelty and recklessness to halt services on which millions of Americans rely, including seniors, children and small businesses. The Trump administration’s action is a dangerous disruption of public programs that support some of the most vulnerable communities in our country, and it is clear that Trump is willing to give his billionaire friends tax breaks at the expense of vital services for working families. The fact is that Congress approved these taxpayer funds to support the American people. Taking them away could seriously harm our communities, and we will stand up against this abhorrent behavior.”
