Washington, D.C. — Latino Victory Fund interim president Melissa Mark-Viverito issued the following statement regarding President Trump’s racist attacks against Democratic members of Congress and the Republican leadership’s silence in the face of these unacceptable comments:
“President Trump’s racist attacks are yet another reminder of the inherent hatred that he harbors for communities of color. His behavior is unacceptable, and it is a threat to our nation’s values. The four congresswomen he so callously attacked are the faces of our nation’s diversity and strength, and they are patriots who are fighting to improve the lives of hard-working Americans. It’s a shame that the Republican leadership has remained silent and refused to condemn these attacks, making them unequivocally complicit with Trump’s racist agenda. These actions should be a wake-up call for voters across the country — we need to hold Republicans accountable in the polls in 2020.”
