Latino Victory Fund Statement on Vice President Mike Pence’s “Latinos for Trump” Event in Central Florida

Washington D.C. — Ahead of Vice President Pence’s “Latinos for Trump” campaign event in Central Florida, Latino Victory Fund Executive Director Mayra Macías issued the following statement:

“Vice President Pence attempting to court the support of Boricuas and Latinos while the Trump administration is actively blocking critical aid in the aftermath of devastating earthquakes is as insulting as it gets. This cynical ploy is yet another reminder of how badly the Trump administration has failed our Puerto Rican brothers and sisters on the island and in the diaspora. Latinos in the I-4 corridor and throughout Florida will see right through this nefarious scheme.”

Macías added: “Whether it be their efforts to take health care away from millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions or their botched response in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, Latinos are sick and tired of Trump’s attacks. The Trump-Pence administration’s litany of broken promises to Floridians and the Latino community will catch up to them come November 2020 when Latinos are the reason they are defeated at the ballot box.”
