Latino Victory Fund: Trump DOL Pick,  Andy Puzder Concerning for Working-Class

Washington, DC –  President-elect Trump has nominated CEO of CKE Restaurants, Andy Puzder, for the position of Labor Secretary.  Please see below for a statement from Cristóbal J. Alex, President of Latino Victory Fund.

“We are appalled, but not surprised, by Trump’s pick for Secretary of the Department of Labor. Regardless of his campaign rhetoric, the truth is that Donald Trump built his empire by cheating workers and scamming contractors. Like Trump, Andy Puzder supports policies that will benefit corporations and not working families: he opposes raising the minimum wage, overtime privileges, and workplace regulations.

“Puzder’s disregard for workplace protections and healthcare benefits is concerning and it contradicts the mission of the Department that Trump tapped him to lead, which is to enforce laws that protect workers and unions.

“Hard-working Americans deserve a Labor Secretary that will fight for their rights and work to improve their livelihood. Latinos will be greatly affected by the Department of Labor’s new leadership, and Latino Victory will follow in the footsteps of Latino labor leaders before us and be an ally in the fight for policies that protect our workers’ rights and condemn policies that prevent our community from getting ahead.”
