Washington, D.C. — Today, the Board of the Latino Victory Project announced that Melissa Mark-Viverito will serve as interim president of the organization while a national search committee begins its work to find a permanent Latino Victory Project President. Mark-Viverito previously served as the organization’s vice president of strategic engagement.
“As Latino Victory Project enters its new chapter and prepares for the 2020 election cycle, we are thrilled that Melissa Mark-Viverito has agreed to serve as interim president. Her institutional knowledge and her experience as an elected official make her the right person to lead the organization during this transitional period,” said Latino Victory Project Board Chair, Luis A. Miranda, Jr. “Melissa will hit the ground running to ensure that we keep working to grow Latino political power across the country and that we are positioned to make history in 2020 and beyond.”
“I want to thank the Latino Victory Project Board and Chair Luis A. Miranda, Jr. for entrusting me to lead the organization during this transitional period,” said Melissa Mark-Viverito. “There is no other organization like this in the country. Latino Victory Project is the first line of defense against President Trump’s attacks on the Latino community, and make no mistake: we will continue standing up for our community and building political power by supporting Latino candidates.”
The Latino Victory Project Board also announced today the “Latino Victory 2020 Fund,” a multi-million fundraising initiative focused on doubling the number of local, state and federal Latino candidates the organization supported in the historic 2018 midterm election cycle.
