Latino Victory Project Celebrates National Voter Registration Day

WASHINGTON – Today, Latino Victory Project Executive Director, Sindy Benavides, released the following statement on National Voter Registration Day:

“The beacon of our democracy is the right to vote. This National Voter Registration Day, we celebrate the efforts toward a more equitable, representative democracy, and it begins with the powerful act of voter registration. As an organizer, I understand the triumph of building toward robust civic engagement in our own local communities. These efforts will resonate throughout our lifetime and to the generations that come after us. While voter suppression continues to affect vulnerable and marginalized populations, National Voter Registration Day is an important reminder of how we can fight back. We can make a collective impact with our individual power at the ballot box.

“Ahead of 2024, one of the most consequential elections in our lifetimes, we welcome this National Voter Registration Day and all those gearing up to participate in our democracy, including those who plan to vote for the first time. Let us not forget that every 30 seconds, a Latino reaches voting age. Latino Victory Project is excited to welcome these voters into our democracy as we celebrate this National Voter Registration Day.”
