Latino Victory Project Celebrates the Beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month

WASHINGTON – Today, Latino Victory Project Executive Director, Sindy Benavides, released the following statement in celebration of the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month:

“Latino Victory Project is honored to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month. With the beginning of this month-long celebration of our culture, we are reminded, as we are every day, of the immense pride and power within our community. Our community’s stories shine through the fabric of this nation and interweave the everlasting narrative of our democracy. Between strife and struggle, success and determination,   the Latino community brings forth vital contributions to this nation in art, science, business, and public service. Today we are nearly 64 million strong and the nation’s largest racial minority or 19.1 percent of the total population.  Without us, this country couldn’t be the multiracial democracy and beacon of hope that it is today.

“Amid concurring crises facing our communities – from the struggles of migrants to the erasure of our stories in educational curriculum to the restriction of voting rights – Latino Victory Project stands committed to strengthening Latino communities this Hispanic Heritage Month and beyond.”
