Latino Victory Project Commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month

Washington, D.C. – Today, Latino Victory Project President and CEO Nathalie Rayes released the following statement in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month.

“Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate our culture, our accomplishments, our contributions and our community’s tenacity as we strive for a just and equitable nation. And, while we believe Hispanic Heritage Month is every month of the year,  this month presents an opportunity to celebrate the Latino community’s cultural, economic and political contributions that are part of the tapestry of our American history and story.

“In celebrating our history and heritage, we are also reminded of the struggles we have faced and are facing as a community. It’s not lost on us that at a time when Latinos across the country are kicking-off a month of celebration and pride, politicians in Florida and Texas are using vulnerable migrants for political games.

“Our community, regardless of zip code or immigration status, is vital to our nation and our democracy. We must renew our commitment to strengthening Latino political power so that Latinos are treated with respect and represented at all government levels.”
