Latino Victory Project: Secretary Tom Price is a Major Risk to Latinos

Washington, D.C. – Cristóbal J. Alex, President of the Latino Victory Project, issued the following statement after the confirmation of Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

“With the confirmation of Rep. Tom Price as the new Secretary of Health and Human Services, Senate Republicans just put primary heath care services for over 4 million Latinos who depend on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in peril. Price has repeatedly voted to gut the Affordable Care Act, to take away access to birth control from women in need, and to defund Planned Parenthood, which is an essential provider for over 600,00 Latinos.

“It is clear that Price doesn’t understand the consequences of his actions. If Trump and Price are successful and repeal the Affordable Care Act without a replacement, millions of Latinos across the country will face even greater obstacles to access quality affordable health care, preventive care like cancer screenings, and sexual and reproductive health services. Latino Victory will fight to protect Planned Parenthood and to ensure that the Affordable Care Act continues to provide affordable, quality healthcare for our community and for Americans in need across the country. We will not sit back and let the Trump administration endanger the health of our community.”
