Washington, D.C. — Today, Cristóbal Alex, President of the Latino Victory Project, released the following statement on Latino turnout in the midterm elections:
“If the Latino electorate turns out today in the numbers we’ve been projecting, our community will make history by voting in larger numbers than four years ago. The 2014 midterm elections are an opportunity for our community to show the nation how quickly our political power is growing and what it will mean for 2016.”
Tomorrow, at a 12:30pm event at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., Latino Victory Project and co-sponsors America’s Voice and the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) will release an election-eve poll conducted by Latino Decisions of nearly 5,000 Latino voters nationwide and in key battleground states. This data will provide insights into Latino voter behavior in the 2014 elections. The results will include detailed data on Latino voters nationwide and in the following battleground states: Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Illinois, Texas, Kansas, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona and California. The findings will focus on which candidates and parties Latino voters cast their ballots for; their motivations for doing so; their views on key issues; and their views on 2016 presidential hopefuls. The poll also will include an oversample of registered Latino voters who did not participate in the 2014 elections to explore their reasons for not voting as well as their views on issues. Viewers may ask a question at Wednesday’s event via livestream here.
In a Huffington Post piece on Monday, Alex commented further on the growing influence of the Latino vote in 2014 and what it means for future elections.
