Latino Victory Project Statement on Senate Passing Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act

Washington, D.C. — Today, the United States Senate passed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The bill will now go to the U.S. House and if passed, it will be signed into law. Nathalie Rayes, Latino Victory Project president and CEO issued the following statement:

“This is a monumental win for President Biden’s agenda and for working families and communities of color who will benefit from the economic and environmental provisions in this sweeping, once-in-a-generation investment. The infrastructure bill will create millions of good-paying jobs, rebuild roads and bridges, modernize our airports, rail and public transit systems, and address the climate crisis. It’s evident that President Biden and his administration are governing with the Latino community’s well-being in mind, and we applaud their inclusive vision. The bill includes provisions that will level the playing field for Latinos by creating more jobs, expand access to high-speed internet, and tackle the climate crisis and pollution, which disproportionately affect Latinos.

“We urge members of Congress to work together to ensure the bill passes the U.S. House and it goes to President Biden’s desk to be signed into law. The Senate has shown what can be accomplished when leaders like President Biden create a consensus to get things done for the American people, and we must keep this momentum going strong. Now it’s time for Democrats in the Senate to continue working for the people by bringing up the budget reconciliation bill with provisions for citizenship for immigrant youth, farmworkers and essential workers.”
