Latino Victory Project Statement on the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressional Democrats unveiled the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021, an immigration bill backed by President Biden. Latino Victory Project President & CEO Nathalie Rayes issued the following statement:

“The bill is a forward-thinking measure that will help transform our broken immigration system into one based on humane and fair policies. It reflects the American voters’ sentiments, with a majority supporting a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants while prioritizing family reunification, our economy, and smart border security. As the first national Latino organization that endorsed President Biden for president, we’re encouraged that he has kept his promise to work with Congress on immigration policy.

“Our country has relied on undocumented immigrants to get us through the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic, and we’ve reaped the economic contributions they’ve made for decades. The ball is now in Congress’ court, and we hope they support the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021 to provide relief to millions of individuals and families and  become the generation of lawmakers that finally fixes our broken immigration system.”
