(Washington, D.C.) – Today, members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate will be sworn into the 114th Congress. A record in Congressional history, the 114th Congress is comprised of 32 Latino members. Cristóbal Alex, the President of the Latino Victory Project, released the following statement:
“Today we are witnessing a truly historic moment as the largest number of Latino legislators are sworn into the 114th Congress. With increased representation, we are hopeful that Congress will make substantial progress on key issues important to Latino families and communities across the country, including passing comprehensive immigration reform, expanding access to affordable health care, increasing the minimum wage and creating jobs, enhancing education opportunities, and ensuring our children grow up in a clean environment.”
