Latino Victory Fund Responds to Marco Rubio’s Comments About Ending DACA

Today Marco Rubio said at a press conference that, if elected President, he would phase out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program – regardless of whether Congress passes immigration reform.

Cristobal J. Alex, President of Latino Victory Fund released the following statement:

“We are disappointed to hear Marco Rubio say that as President he would phase of DACA regardless of whether Congress passes immigration reform or not.

“Rubio has been a leader on immigration reform in the past, but when leading on the issue is no longer politically expedient he is abandoning his community for the purpose of his own ambitions. We hoped that he would come to his senses and advocate for our families, but instead he is threatening programs meant to protect our community.

“Latinos are listening and Marco Rubio just made it crystal clear that he is completely out of touch with the needs of the Latino community and that he doesn’t stand with us. Rubio should remember that it’s not enough to be Latino to get our community’s support.”
