Latino Victory Statement on House Passing the Dream and Promise Act

Washington, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Dream and Promise Act today. Nathalie Rayes, Latino Victory Project president and CEO, issued the following statement:

“The Dream and Promise Act is a promising step forward in the pathway to citizenship for 11 million undocumented people. With its passage, we are closer to building an immigration system that is fair, inclusive, and compassionate. This legislation will allow immigrant youth and TPS holders that have been living in uncertainty over the past four years stability to live their lives and continue contributing to their communities. Democrats won the House and Senate thanks in part to the efforts of immigration advocacy groups who have been fighting for a fair immigration system. The House has delivered on a portion of their promise, and now we urge the Senate to immediately pass this legislation, which is long overdue, and for both chambers to continue working to improve our immigration system.”
