Latino Victory condemns the passage of the House GOP’s so-called “domestic policy package,” a destructive bill that would deepen inequality, gut critical safety nets like Medicaid and SNAP, and fuel Trump’s mass deportation agenda, all while handing out tax cuts to the ultra-wealthy and unnecessarily expanding military spending.
“Let’s be clear: this bill is nothing short of an assault on our values as a country, but that’s not the worst,” said Katharine Pichardo, President and CEO of Latino Victory. “It strips away access to health care, food assistance, and clean energy, just to fund tax breaks for billionaires and criminalize vulnerable communities. Latino Victory rejects this agenda in the strongest terms, and we will continue fighting to protect our communities from these coordinated attacks.”
This legislation is projected to rescind health coverage for over 8 million people and slash resources from those already struggling, all while increasing the national debt by over $2 trillion. It accelerates the growing divide between the wealthiest and the working class, decreasing household resources for the lowest-income Americans by 4% while increasing those of the wealthiest by 2%.
Pichardo added, “This bill is not about fiscal responsibility. It is about political cruelty. Latino Victory calls on the Senate to reject this reckless legislation and urges all Americans to stand up and speak out. We must protect Medicaid, SNAP, and the critical programs that sustain our families.”
