Latino Victory Statement on Vice President Joe Biden Declared Presumptive Nominee for the Democratic Party

Washington, D.C. — Yesterday, Senator Bernie Sanders suspended his presidential campaign, leaving former Vice President Joe Biden as the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party for the presidential nomination. Mayra Macías, Latino Victory executive director, issued the following statement:

“We have reached a turning point in the presidential election, and we could not have a more qualified candidate than Vice President Biden leading the race to the White House. A crisis like the one we are facing needs a statesman who will be ready to turn our country around on day one. Not only does Vice President Biden have the credentials to defeat Donald Trump, but he also provides an invaluable opportunity to help down-ballot candidates win races to ensure we keep the Democratic majority in the House and help flip the Senate.

“Latino Victory was the first national Latino organization to endorse Vice President Biden because he is committed to supporting the issues that matter to our community. As we face a health and economic crisis, we know he will deliver on his proposals that include access to affordable health care, a robust economy, jobs, education, and immigration reform.  Latino Victory congratulates Vice President Biden for being the presumptive Democratic nominee, and the leader who will unite the Democratic Party in the next critical phase of the 2020 election.”
