WASHINGTON, D.C.—Latino Victory Fund is proud to announce our first state legislative endorsement, supporting Angelique Espinoza, candidate for the Colorado State House of Representatives, District 10.
“Latino Victory Fund is committed to electing Latinos up and down the ballot, that is why we are excited to announce our first state legislative endorsement. Angelique Espinoza is a strong voice for the Latino community in Boulder and we are thrilled to support her candidacy,” said César Blanco, Latino Victory Fund interim director. “Angelique is an activist at heart who has volunteered to help the immigrant community, and advocated for clean, innovative energy policies. We know that she will do what is right for her district and will fight for the issues that Latinos care about. We look forward to seeing Angelique take her drive and tenacity to the halls of the Colorado State Capitol.”
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the Latino Victory Fund! If elected to serve in the State House, I will use my voice to stand up for the issues that are important to Latinos and to Colorado, including a clean environment, quality education, equity and fairness,” said Angelique Espinoza, candidate for Colorado State House of Representatives.
Angelique Espinoza is an active member of the Boulder community with a wide range of working relationships, leadership experience and praised policy insight. Her volunteering started when she moved to Boulder in 1991 by focusing on empowering people like herself through Reading to End Racism, telling her story and leading discussions on racism. She also worked with Intercambio on a pilot program helping immigrant parents become more involved in their child’s education. In 2004, Angelique joined Boulder County Democrats to increase Latino voter turnout. She recruited candidates and built support for increasing diversity countywide among public officials.
Boulder elected Angelique to the City Council in 2007. As the only Spanish-speaking member of Council, she interacted directly with Latino residents of a mobile home community when they faced redevelopment and displacement.
Angelique helped rezone the property to give them a fighting chance. After serving one term, she served on an Affordable Housing Task Force advocating for housing options for low and middle-income earners. As the Public Affairs Director for the Boulder Chamber, she served on committees focused on innovation and clean energy.
