Washington, D.C.–In observance of International Workers Day, Latino Victory Executive Director Mayra Macías issued the following statement:
“Our nation’s economy is carried on the backs of millions of immigrants, and we can’t thrive without their contributions. While Democrats in Congress fight for better working conditions for workers, Trump and Republicans have made it clear that they do not care about workers’ rights. Frontline workers deserve better than Trump and Republicans’ reckless, failed leadership. They’re running the country in the pandemic’s frontlines— picking produce in the fields, packing food in factories, cleaning buildings, managing grocery stores, and saving lives in COVID-19 hotspots. Our nation owes them a debt of gratitude, and their’s and their families’ livelihoods and health must be protected regardless of status.”
