Zenia is a community and political organizer with nearly fifteen years of experience in progressive campaigns and legislation.
As an electoral and community organizer, her efforts have helped pass progressive legislation and elect four members of The Squad and President Biden in 2020. As a digital and distributed organizer, she has experience in program design and training for Progressive candidates and causes. As a labor organizer, Zenia has taken on private equity and corporate retail behemoths to secure safe and dignified working conditions during COVID-19 for her members and helped pass the nation’s first guaranteed severance pay law in New Jersey in July 2020.
A proud graduate of Florida’s public schools thanks to Pell Grants, Florida’s Bright Futures, and Dual enrollment programs, Zenia has a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with a Certificate in Ethnic Studies from Florida Atlantic University. She had to pause her certificate in Sustainable Agricultural Management from Cincinnati State and her Begin Farming Program with Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association to focus on building Latino political power during the pivotal 2022 midterm elections.
In 2022, Zenia oversaw the influencer program of the $5 million earned media campaign, #VoteLikeAMadre, which mobilized at least 3.7 million Latinas across Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada to vote for and demand that all candidates have bold plans to fight climate change. While currently at Latino Victory, Zenia is focused on a never-before-seen unity coalition of Black, Latino, and AAPI voters and organizations to elect Harris-Walz in 2024.
Born and raised in the County of Dade, Zenia now resides in North Miami Beach with the apple of her eye, Snooki Perez, a street dog who she adopted while serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic. Zenia enjoys gardening, reading science fiction and biographies, and exploring the culinary scene of the cities she visits.
